About Coach
Jared began his jiu jitsu journey in college in 2003. After starting a career in law enforcement in 2009, he began to fully understand the benefits of jiu jitsu training. Jared trained at the Jean Jacques Machado academy in Simi Valley, CA under professors Mark Mireles and Bryce Eddy, until obtaining his brown belt. After a move to Idaho, Jared continued his training at Gracie Barra Boise under Professor Ray Morrow. Jared received his black belt from Professor Ray in November 2023.
Jared used his training to teach Defensive Tactics and Arrest and Control throughout his time in law enforcement at both the Oxnard Police Department (CA) and Meridian Police Department (ID). Jared was a member of the Oxnard Police Department SWAT team for several years, and held various assignments throughout his law enforcement career. Jared has a passion for teaching law enforcement and feels that jiu jitsu is one of the best tools any peace officer should have.
Jared is the father to 2 boys who are active in many sports, including jiu jitsu. Jared's wife, Bri, also trains and is currently a purple belt.
